Ginseng Tea – How Is It Made and What Is It?
Ginseng is not only one of the most popular types of health supplements there is, but it also enjoys the most widespread use including that of Ginseng Tea. The prices of ginseng vary according to the exact type of ginseng you are looking for.
Forms of Ginseng
Ginseng is typically available in either capsule and tea forms. Those who prefer capsules are typically required to take them specifically as described on the bottle or packaging. You can do the same with ginseng tea although the rules are more flexible with this form of ginseng supplement. One thing you are explicitly warned against is combining use of ginseng tea and capsules as this could lead to overdosing.
Ginseng Tea – Preparing The Tea
There are several ways for you to prepare ginseng tea. The easiest way would be to purchase commercially prepared ginseng tea bags or tea cuts. You must however make sure that you have purchased it from a reliable source. There are instances when products marketed as ginseng supplements do not actually contain any element of ginseng at all.
The more difficult way of preparing ginseng tea is to make it yourself. You can use either slices of ginseng or the whole root for preparing ginseng tea. It’s best, however, if you cut the root into smaller pieces as this would allow for quicker infusion.
What you need:
- 1 cup of ginseng tea is equivalent to the following:
- 1 tea bag
- 1 tsp. of ginseng tea cut
- 2 to 3 grams of ginseng
- 5 to 8 slices of ginseng
Add the requisite amount of ginseng to a cup of hot water. Let it remain there for four to five minutes. You can leave it longer, but be aware that the longer you allow the ginseng to stay in the water, the stronger or more potent your mixture could be.
For those who are taking ginseng tea for the first time, it is best to allow the ginseng to brew no more than five minutes initially. Give yourself time to be acquainted with the unique and rather strong taste of ginseng first.
The slices or tea bag you had used may also be reused to make one or two more extra cups of ginseng tea afterwards too.
